The great thing is that you don’t have to rely on your studs being perfectly in place to use this bar. Our house is pretty old and has some funny stud locations. In particular, for our bathroom the only solid studs I could find were like 22′ apart! As you can see in the pictures I only used 3 of the mounts and that was plenty. As a matter of fact, the middle bar mount is just using a drywall mount and isn’t even going into a stud. Installation was pretty straightforward but was still kind of a pain to get everything level and I did have to use several of the shims included to bring it out from the wall on the last bar mount so the bar could side in easily. The one thing I was a bit disappointed about was the noise made when opening and closing the door… Sounds a bit like grinding of metal to metal but what I found was that one of the rolling mounts must have been tightened down too much from the factory so the center mounting spot of the wheel was grinding against the face of the wheel. Since I used a standard door I had a bit of a gap at the bottom and used an aluminum U-Channel screwed to the bottom of the door as a guide… Well made and fantastic price. This is super nice, high quality hardware, easy to install, just drill it 2 above the desired door height, leave 1/2 for bottom clearance and that it. Very nice kit, part of the install can be tricky and may require special tools. Overall this is a very nice kit. High quality parts, sharp looking contemporary take on classic barn door hardware. The instructions are ok for the most part except that they say that the pole is pre drilled every 16 and thats not true, no holes are pre-drilled in the poll and none are needed. The wall mounts can be moved to be mounted anywhere on the poll (which is a good thing but is contrary to what the instructions say). The instructions also say you need to use a headboard but I didnt use one and it came out great IMO. The only other complaint I have is that in order to use the included floor guide you need route a slot into the bottom of the door, and a router is not something most people have just sitting around the house. I used my circle saw to do it but it was not easy and pretty dangerous. For my install I got lucky that there was a wood stud in wall right where I needed it on one side so my pole goes into the wall through a wood studd which holds the weight of the door without a problem. The other side of the poll I was able to mount to the wall where my studs happen to be rather than having to use dry wall ankers whcih came with the kit that I seriously doubt would hold the weight of the door. On a whole most of the install was easy except the floor guide which requires a hammer drill and masonry screws to mount to a ceramic tile over concrete floor and to rout a slot in the bottom of the door. The door slides very smoothly. Nice looking and working great. It deliver on time! Very easy to install, door moves back and forth with no effort at all. We hung 2 small doors for our bathroom. We found this mount to be heavy duty and well made! Beautiful hardware, absolutely no customer service though. No response to my message whatsoever. How wide your door opening is plus 4 inches!
